XRB Co., Ltd. has been selected for the 2025 industry-academia-research collaboration project led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The project theme is 'Development of an indoor (home-use) VRFB-ESS for commercialization at a capacity of 5kW through the development of high energy density electrolytes,' which is significant in expanding VRFB batteries, previously used only as long-duration ESS, into B2C-based home-use ESS.
Through this project, we plan to demonstrate an integrated type of indoor VRFB ESS that operates stably in high-temperature environments above 50°C by improving the energy density of the electrolyte by more than twice the existing level and significantly enhancing the spatial form factor by over 40%, while preparing a commercialization of high-temperature stability additives that XRB Co., Ltd. already possesses.
The home-use ESS market is a promising business projected to grow at an annual rate of 31.4%, driven by the expansion of energy-independent housing and solar energy supply to households, along with various incentive policies, growing from $1.2 billion in 2025 to $5.7 billion by 2033.
XRB Co., Ltd. is actively seeking to penetrate the small-capacity B2C market, leveraging price competitiveness of over 30% lower than existing products, alongside its B2G or B2B business for long-duration ESS, based on high-power stack technology and high energy density electrolyte technology.
